Hello! I'm Halsey (she/her), a freelance illustrator and lettering artist from Washington, DC. I received my BFA from the Corcoran College of Art + Design in 2014, where I studied Fine Arts with a concentration in painting. From there, I developed a love for letters and telling stories with my work. I've been freelancing since 2016, and have worked with corporate, small business, and individual clients on an array of digital and hand-painted projects.
As a multidisciplinary artist, my studio practice varies between digital and traditional forms of making, and I enjoy them both equally. I've sharpened my skills to work in editorial illustration, t-shirt design, custom typography for print publications, web illustration, hand-painted signage, murals, logo design, and branding. I practice all of these disciplines because I love the problem-solving nature of design.
My personal work is as equally varied as my client work. My goal is always to make people think, laugh, or both - relatability is key! The work I've shared on social media since quarantine has been designed to be a love letter to humanity, whether it's a call to action about a social justice topic, destigmatizing mental health issues, or just weird illustrations of flamingos in cowboy hats.
On the weekends, you can find me crocheting, practicing (and failing) the art of finishing an entire sketchbook, or cooking vegan meals! I have two dogs and two cats, and I love animals. I'm always looking for new projects and clients to work with, whether you're a big company or just a person looking to start something new! Let's work together!
